Jewel Cottage
A beautiful 200 year old stone cottage on three floors tucked away on Matlock Bank, standing above the town of Matlock. Recently renovated and updated retaining its original features. Enjoys own small enclosed courtyard, and a pleasant sunny, lawned front garden suitable for sitting out.
Jewel Cottage is an ideal base for walking, eating and exploring the Dales, Buxton, Bakewell, Chesterfield, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, with Alton Towers approx. 17 miles.
Easy walk to buses, Matlock rail station, including Peak Rail steam railway, with major roads giving easy access to M1 only 20 minutes away.
There are several places to hire cycles for exploring the gentle Tissington Trail (old railway course).
Numerous restaurants and pubs serving a wide variety of food some within walking distance.
Golf, swimming pool and horse riding all nearby.
Newsagent, bakery and delicatessen selling local, home-made pies, cakes and other delicacies in less than 2 minutes walk from front door, as is a local park with children's play area.
Nearby are Matlock Bath (2 miles), Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom.

Living/dining room with rugs on wooden floor, storage, radio/CD player, combined flatscreen TV/DVD player. Steep stone (irregular) stairs down to semi-basement room ideal for cool sitting in summer, contains small double sofa bed with single futon for alternative sleeping. TV.

  • The cottage has a private drive to a single vehicle parking space and access to the accommodation is via five steps to the front garden and short pathway to the front door. This is an old character property with uneven and irregular steps and stairs, wonky floors and some low doorways. It may not be suitable for people with impaired or unstable mobility.
